Elected Mayor Issue

Messrs Castle & Wainwright do appear to be upset at the letter from Barry Coleman in last weeks Mercury which set out to explain the whole picture with regards to the Elected Mayoral process.   Whilst trying to encourage people to sign the petition without explaining all the costs and other processes that would have to be undertaken in the event of a positive outcome, these two appear to not only be trying to dupe the public by saying “It is just a bit of fun” but are also trying to use this non political process for their own political purposes.  Shame on you!

Christmas 2009

Just back home after towing our caravan down to see our eldest son and family for Christmas.  It is great to be back in my own bed again!

Poo Dispenser’s and Signs installed in Hopton

New Poo Dispenser’s were installed at all 5 entrances to Hopton Playing Field on Tuesday.  This is a joint trial between Hopton Parish Council and Great Yarmouth Borough Council.  Hopefully, this will reduce the amount of dog mess on our playing field.  We will keep a close eye on developments.

Hopton Parish Council – Family Christmas Party

About 120 adults and children enjoyed the 3rd annual Hopton Christmas Party.  Father Christmas came and handed out lots of presents to the children.  A very festive scene with all the snow we have had!  Hopefully, the next Christmas Party will be in the new village hall!

Palliative Care Ball – Somerleyton Hall

Had a great night at Somerleyton Hall last night raising money for a very good cause.  It was a bit cold though!  Lots of money raised on the night but feel a bit “sluggish” this morning!

Wonderful Christmas setting outside…not sure I want to venture out though!!

Elect Brandon Lewis Campaign Team Meeting

Attended the meeting this evening at the Conservative Gapton Hall Office.  Brandon Lewis, Agent Andrew Baxter and about 10 of the Elect Brandon Lewis Team Leaders attended to discuss the ongoing campaign strategy.  We later went to Brandon’s Hemsby home for a Christmas drink and some of Justine’s curry and chilli finished off with chocolate brownies!!  YUM!
